Getting old is not something new. All of us who are still alive will surely undertake this stage of getting old. Now, the question is how you can make life easier for you during old age? Most aged people suffer from different illnesses due to their weakening body and immune system. The bones and joints of the body also become fragile as we grow old so body aches are very common to our old folks.

One of the common illnesses that our grandparents or parents usually complain is arthritis. It is a common condition usually experienced by people aging from 40 to 60 years old. But then, there are rare cases wherein those who are still below 40 are already experiencing arthritis. Arthritis is best described as swelling and pain we usually experience in our joints, ligaments and muscles.

There are many things that are believed and considered by health experts as the cause of arthritis. One cause of arthritis is the food that we take. There are certain foods that can cause or trigger arthritis and this includes fatty foods and acid forming foods. Some other causes are hormonal imbalance and hereditary factors.

When we talk about arthritis, it can be confusing since there are many different types of arthritis. The common ones are gout, fibrositis, frozen shoulder, ankylosing spondylitis, cervical spondylitis, osteoarthritis, palindromic rheumatism and the most popular is the rheumatoid arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis is described as a very painful disorder usually experienced in hands or legs and sometimes in both hands and legs which make it difficult for a person to walk or move around. Oftentimes, this causes a person to feel irritated and depressed since it is difficult to be confined in one place.

In the advancement of our medical technology, they discovered the real physical process of rheumatoid arthritis wherein the white bloods cells would go awry. It is actually known to everyone that the white blood cells are an army where its main job is to fight bad foreign bacteria that cause sickness. But then, unknown to most of us, there are instances when this white blood cell would wander into the blood stream attacking the synovium more commonly known as the membranes around our joints. Once this happens, our joints get inflamed thus leading to rheumatoid arthritis.

If not medically treated, the synovium would continue to thicken around our joints because of the white blood cells and may lead to bone deformity around the joint. That is why professional doctors usually advise patient to avoid self treatment which can worsen the problem.

Another problem that you might encounter is incorrect diagnosis of rheumatism. Although rheumatoid arthritis is the most common type of arthritis, there are cases when an illness is misdiagnosed because of similar symptoms felt. To be safe and sure, visit a specialist on arthritis or ask a second opinion from another doctor.

Prepare to get old by eating healthy and learning the causes of common illnesses like arthritis. This way you can have a more comfortable life and you can live longer with less problems to endure.
